What: Be in the know about the new Green Space on campus and help us make it a vibrant learning space of engagement for our students.
As we seek to launch our beautiful new Green Space—we need the community to help keep it thriving. Parents and volunteers are invited to a free one-hour workshop on campus to learn how we can be stewards of this special habitat area and help it stay healthy, vibrant, and green.
Cindy Hardin, Director of Outdoor Education at the Nature Nexus Institute, will share how schoolyard habitats can become powerful teaching tools that connect students with the natural world. The workshop will include examples of inspiring habitat projects from schools across Los Angeles, background on the design of Braddock’s new space, and an introduction to the importance of native plants—why they matter and why both people and local wildlife love them. All are welcome in our community!
Organized by: Braddock Greening Committee
Where: Braddock Drive Elementary Playground
When: Saturday, March 21, 2026
What: The Greening Committee invites Braddock families, friends, and the community to roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty for the Native Plant Garden Launch Party. Join us for a special volunteer planting day alongside Isabelle Duvivier and her incredible team from Verdant Venice Group as we bring our new native plant garden to life.
Isabelle has generously designed this beautiful space and dedicated countless volunteer hours to make this vision a reality. She recently secured a grant from Ballona Creek Renaissance to add more plants. Now it's our turn to help finish what she's started.
Whether you're a seasoned gardener or have never planted a thing, there's a role for everyone. Braddock students and families are all welcome!
How: RSVP HERE
What to Expect:
Plant small trees and native species with expert guidance
Decorate tree cages with colorful ribbons
Enjoy hands-on educational activities celebrating our campus green spaces
Connect with other families who care about our school environment
We need parent volunteers to make this happen, and the more, the merrier! This isn't just a one-day event—it's the launch of an ongoing commitment to greening our campus, and we'd love for you to be part of it.
Come celebrate, learn, and grow together. Let's show our kids what community looks like in action!

Where: Braddock Drive Elementary Auditorium and Playground
When: Friday, April 10, 2026 | 8:30-9:30 AM
What: The most significant greening project at Braddock to date is the new Green Space (official name to be unveiled soon).
Years in the making, this outdoor stage and native habitat garden area has been thoughtfully designed with environmental conservation and biodiversity in mind.
The space features native California plants, seating areas, and a stormwater - capturing swale system beneath the garden that helps intercept runoff before it flows toward Ballona Creek and the ocean.
More than just landscaping, the Green Space will serve as a place where students can gather, perform, learn outdoors, and connect with nature on campus.
To celebrate this milestone, the entire Braddock community is invited to attend the official Green Space launch followed by a ribbon cutting and outdoor celebration.
The event will include remarks from school and district leaders, reflections on the design and vision for the space, and the official ribbon cutting ceremony.
